Milestones That Shaped Our Journey.

For over seven decades, Hallmark knitted fabric has played an active role in shaping the evolution of yarns and knitted fabric in India. Our milestones reflect a history of early adoption, technical innovation, and long-term partnerships-introducing new fibres, developing advanced fabric structures, and consistently raising quality standards for the knitwear industry. Each chapter marks a step forward, guided by experience and built with the future in mind.

  • Pioneering the Introduction of Color Mélange

In 1990, Hallmark played a central role in bringing Color Mélange yarn into textile production in India, a novel fiber-dyeing breakthrough at the time. Early developments by Malwa Cotton Spinning Mills and Rajasthan Spinning Mills led to this vibrant, textured yarn entering mainstream use, with Hallmark facilitating its industry adoption. Unlike conventional dyeing, Color Mélange creates unique multitone aesthetics that captivated designers and brands across India and abroad.

Transformed how dyed yarn colors were conceived in knitwear

Sparked adoption by hundreds of mills nationwide

Became a staple for premium and fashion-forward collections

  • Introducing Lenzing Modal to the Indian Market

In 1999, Hallmark achieved a major industry breakthrough by being the first to introduce Lenzing Modal fiber - a premium, internationally acclaimed cellulosic fiber - into the Indian yarn ecosystem. Produced initially in collaboration with Rajasthan Textile Mills (part of the KK Birla Group), this milestone elevated quality benchmarks and broadened the scope of fine knitted fabric available in the country.

Catalysed widespread production of Modal yarn across India

Opened doors to innovative blended fabrics

Strengthened global fibre partnerships, especially with Lenzing India

  • Introducing Amsler Slub Yarn & Fabric Innovation

Building on the textile tradition of novelty yarns, Hallmark introduced its take on Amsler Slub yarns - specialty yarns with intentional thick-and-thin texture variations that create a distinctive slub effect in fabrics. This move brought aesthetic richness and tactile depth to casual wear and premium knit collections.

Expanded Hallmark’s portfolio of textured yarns

Enabled fashion and knitwear brands to leverage artisanal aesthetics

Merged classic textile craft with modern knit technology

  • Pioneering Fine Gauge Knitted Fabrics

Recognizing the evolving needs of premium apparel brands, Hallmark pioneered fine gauge knitted fabrics in the early 2000s. These finely knitted structures enabled ultra-soft, lightweight, and high-performance fabrics ideal for contemporary fashion, athleisure, and luxury basics.

Set new quality standards for fine knitwear

Expanded possibilities for designers in terms of drape and texture

  • Revolutionizing Knit Indigo Denim

Hallmark embraced the trend of merging denim aesthetics with knit comfort through knit indigo denim innovation. By incorporating advanced indigo dyeing processes (inspired by sustainable indigo fibre technologies like spun-dyed modal with indigo) into knit structures, Hallmark expanded its creative palette - offering denim-look knits with stretch and softness.

Blended denim appeal with knitwear comfort

Provided eco-friendly alternatives to water-intensive traditional denim processing

Fueled design innovation in casual and athleisure categories
